On June, 8-11 Poznan, Poland hosted the Pi 2025 – 10th IWA Conference Benchmarking, Performance Assessment and Regulation of Water Services organized by the IWA Benchmarking and Performance Assessment Specialist Group (SG BPA).
The integrated part of the conference was the pre-conference workshop on benchmarking and KPIs, titled “Benchmarking of Water Utilities – Practical Experience of REWAISE Partners” organized on 8th June at Poznan University of Technology. The workshop was organized by REWAISE Partners: Poznan University of Technology (PUT) and Aquanet (ANET) from Poland, and CETIM Technological Centre and PKF Attest innCome from Spain. There were about 20 participants from different continents (North and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe).
After introduction of all participants, Zbysław Dymaczewski from PUT presented the general assumptions and goals of the REWAISE Project.
Next, Jędrzej Bylka from PUT talked about role and importance of benchmarking for water utilities.
And Piotr Syk from ANET introduced the European Benchmarking Co-operation initiative and its importance for Aquanet on the way for continuous self-improving.
In the last presentation Álvaro Fernández Braña from CETIM introduced the participants to the REWAISE approach to selecting and monitoring the key performance indicators (KPI).
The presentations were followed by a very intensive discussion on the benefits and pitfalls of using benchmarking to improve the functioning of various areas of water management.
The conference sessions were held in the modern Andersia conference and hotel centre located in the centre of Poznań. They were attended by around 70 people from all over the world. The conference was opened by Peter Dane, President of IWA BPA SG. Then the floor was given by, among others, the Meyer of the city of Poznań Jacek Jaśkowiak, the CEO of Aquanet Paweł Chudziński and Álvaro Fernández Braña, our REWAISE colleague from CETIM.
